Goals & Priorities
What the site needs to accomplish
Primary goals
Donations
- Increase overall online donations
- Keep donors on the site during the giving process
- Reduce confusion around donation paths (meal contributions vs. general donations, finding the Sustainers Circle portal)
Volunteers
- Make it easier to understand how to get involved
- Reduce friction and visual clutter in the signup process
Get Meals
- Improve clarity and usefulness of the meals section
- Better explain how services work and who they're for
- Make the dining center pages genuinely useful for diners
Note
The site should be donation-first without feeling aggressive.
A boundary around help-seeking
"Donation-first" describes where the project spends its effort, not the hierarchy on every page. Pages for eligibility, requesting meals, and contacting someone for help stay focused on that task, and general-audience pages lead with help where someone might be arriving in need.
- No fundraising prompts inside meal-request and help flows
- No donation CTA competing with eligibility information or request forms
- Success on these pages means helping someone understand the service and take the next step
Content and updates
The core pages are largely evergreen, updated occasionally rather than on a schedule. The exception is News & Events, which carries over from the legacy site and gets posted to whenever there's something worth sharing.
Staff create landing pages, add and reorder sections within a page, and make routine content updates without a developer. See How the CMS Works.
